Caja Rural-Seguros RGA received this Tuesday the invitation from Unipublic to participate in the next edition of la Vuelta a España, the most important race in the country and the main objective of the ProTeam each season. In this way, the team will start in its tenth consecutive Spanish round since the debut in Pamplona in 2012.
La Vuelta presented its 21 stages last week in Burgos, the starting point of its 76th edition on August 14. It is a very attractive route that will end with an individual time trial in Santiago de Compostela on September 5.
Caja Rural-Seguros RGA will seek to offer its best version in one of the highest level events on the international calendar, as was proven again last year with the victory of Primoz Roglic. The eight riders chosen will face the best teams in the world with the clear objective of achieving a stage victory.
Juan Manuel Hernández (manager): Completing ten consecutive seasons attending to La Vuelta is a pride and a great motivation for Caja Rural-Seguros RGA. It is our most important race so we are very grateful to Unipublic for their confidence. We know the great effort they have made from the organization, since the current invitation system hurts all the ProTeam squads.
Unipublic does a great job to help Spanish cycling. At Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, thanks to La Vuelta, we have grown as a team in all these years. There are several cyclists who debuted with us in a Great Tour and right now they are at the highest level in the world. Without La Vuelta it would not have been possible. For this reason, we will once again provide opportunities for our young cyclists to show their potential in the race of the year.
Our tenth participation will be even more special if possible. We are aware of the difficulty and privilege of participating in La Vuelta and we will plan the race to arrive with the eight best cyclists in their best form. The illusion of winning a stage is enormous and we know that the way to achieve it is through work and sacrifice from now on.
