Jon Aberasturi remata en Getxo un gran trabajo colectivo

Por segundo año consecutivo, el Circuito de Getxo se tiñó de verde para Caja Rural-Seguros RGA gracias a la victoria de Jon Aberasturi tras un ataque en el último repecho que le permitió plantarse en meta con tiempo para celebrar. Por detrás entró Alex Aranburu -ganador en 2018- para completar el doblete. Es la segunda victoria para el corredor alavés en la temporada, y la quinta para el equipo. Además, el buen hacer de todos durante toda la jornada tuvo el premio de mejor equipo.

El equipo salió mentalizado desde el inicio para estar presente en carrera. Un primer corte de cuatro corredores fue el encargado de formar la primera escapada del día, en todo momento controlada por los equipos más fuertes. Con la neutralización de ese corte fue cuando la carrera se empezó a romper. Primero Gonzalo Serrano y luego Sergei Chernetskii y Alex Aranburu fueron los encargados de salir a todos los ataques para asegurar presencia por delante.

En la última vuelta se formó un corte de once hombres que parecía ser el definitivo, con el ruso entre ellos. Los once se quedaron en cuatro, pero finalmente fueron absorbidos. En el duro repecho final llegó el ataque de Aberasturi que le llevó a meta en solitario

Jon Aberasturi: «Ha sido una carrera muy loca pero al final nos valía la escapada porque llevábamos a Sergei, que es un corredor fuerte. En el último repecho no me lo he pensado y he atacado, les he podido pasar y he podido llegar. Los últimos metros se me han hecho eternos, pero he visto que tenía distancia y era difícil que me pillasen. Además, Alex ha hecho segundo así que es perfecto. Era importante hacerlo bien hoy, ahora vienen objetivos importantes y esperemos llegar en las mejores condiciones a la Vuelta a España».

Próxima cita World Tour a la vista
Después del triunfo de hoy y el inminente inicio de la Volta a Portugal, el calendario aguarda al equipo con una nueva cita de la máxima categoría como la Clásica de San Sebastián, a la que iremos con estos siete hombres: Jonathan Lastra, Alex Aranburu, Jon Irisarri, Gonzalo Serrano, Sergei Chernetskii, Joel Nicolau y Cristian Rodríguez.

Jon Aberasturi: «It was a very crazy race but in the end it was worth the breakaway because we were taking Sergei, who is a strong runner. In the last uphill I did not think about it and I attacked, I could pass them and I could get there. The last meters have made me so long, but I have seen that I had distance and it was difficult to get caught. Also, Alex has made second so it is perfect. It was important to do well today, now important goals come and we hope to arrive in the best conditions to Vuelta a España «.
